Sunbrella Fabrics
Sunbrella is an ingredient brand. They don’t make the chairs, or the draperies, they make the fabric. It’s very beautiful fabric, but also a very strong textile. These are the same makers of convertible roof materials and the company that made the US Flag that’s on the moon. That kind of durability, combined with almost limitless design choices, really opens the door for interior designers and architects. They can create incredible interior or exterior designs with beautiful patterns, but also not have to worry about the wear and tear of the material, which is even bleach-cleanable. So, Sunbrella offers the freedom to create anything, but also the freedom to not worry about it.
We brought this idea to life with rough and tumble kid-adventure scenes made entirely of Sunbrella fabric. The “live free style” campaign extended into product sheets, social activations and even a living QR code. The holy grail publication for the brand at the time was Architectural Digest which checks off on architects, interior designers and affluent homeowners. This campaign earned Architectural Digest’s “Readers’ Most Favorable Impression” award for the year it ran. Not only that, but this idea (making scenes from fabric) was often imitated, even showing up on a stock photo site, but we were the first to do it.
